On May 8, 2011, more than 250 scientists and technologists packed the conference room in Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center, Schaumburg to attend the 2nd Annual Chicago Biotech-Pharma International Symposium. A large portion of the attendants came from major pharmaceutical companies including Abbott Laboratories, Takeda, Baxter, DuPont, and Eli Lilly. One third of the participants also came from University of Chicago, Northwestern University, and other academic institutions. 10 Delegates from mainland China also attended this conference. This symposium was co-organized by ACSE and Yao-Yuan. Dr. Gui-Dong Zhu from Abbott was the symposium chair. The symposium has invited world-class scientists and industrial leaders to discuss the frontiers and share their views in biomedical science and global pharmaceutical industry.

THE 4TH YAO YUAN BIOTECH/PHARMA INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM
Sponsored by the City of Changsha, China and co-organized by Central South University and Yao Yuan—Academy for Pharma Innovation, Yao Yuan’s 4th Biotech-Pharma International Symposium will be held on November 10-16, 2012 in Changsha/Zhangjiajie, China. The theme of the conference is “Global Coalition, A Synergistic Path to Biopharma Innovation” to highlight our goal in exploring a healthy, innovative, and rejuvenated model for future avenues of biotech and pharmaceutical development. This particular symposium attempts to diagnose the decline in current pharmaceutical R&D efficiency, emphasize the latest but successful pharmaceutical innovations, and propose feasible and effective solutions to the challenging environment facing the pharmaceutical industry. The 1st day of the three-day event will be held in Changsha National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, focusing on strategic diagnoses of the current pharmaceutical challenges, and searching for potential solutions.
